George Ellis

George serves as a Managing Director at Huron Consulting, a leading provider of services to hospitals and education institutions. Previously, he served as Chief Financial Officer  of The Studer Group, which was acquired by Huron in 2015. Other roles have included Chief Financial Officer of Global 360, and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SoftBrands, Inc., Chief Financial Officer of Sterling Software, Inc., Chief Financial Officer and Founder of Sterling Commerce, Inc., a spin-off of Sterling Software, and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Communities Foundation of Texas. While at CFT he was the founder of Entrepreneurs for North Texas.

George is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and as an Attorney in the State of Texas. He is certified as a Master Director by the National Association of Corporate Directors.

George is a member of the Boards of Directors of Blackbaud, Inc., and Liquidity Services, Inc. and serves as immediate past Chairman of The Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance. He is a partner with Social Venture Partners-Dallas, and the co-author of “The Little Green Book of Venture Philanthropy”.

George is married to a clinical psychologist, Anne, and together they have five children, ages 25 to 40.
