Kevin M. Hanks

Kevin M. Hanks is an independent consulting CFO who assists entrepreneurs to launch, grow, capitalize and exit their businesses.

As Chief Financial Officer at four venture-capital backed technology companies and The Everest Group, an international consulting firm, he has led a $46 million initial public offering, raised private debt and equity capital, participated in multiple acquisition transactions, and successfully developed finance and accounting organizations.

Mr. Hanks currently serves on the advisory board of Synerzip, a provider of off-shore software development services, and as an advisor to Six Pillars Partners, a private equity fund. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hanks worked as an associate for Price Waterhouse and with the investment banking firm Raymond James Financial. He graduated with Honors from the University of Florida in 1980 with a Bachelors of Science in accounting and from Harvard Business School in 1982 with an MBA. He has been a full-time consultant since 2007 and was President of the Harvard Business School Club of Dallas from 2009 to 2012.

As an advisor, he has helped dozens of companies improve their business models, close financings, sell or buy businesses, build accounting teams, enhance management and board reporting, hire key employees, or launch new businesses. Typical client engagements include situations:

  • Where accounting, financial analyses, forecasting, or reporting are inadequate
  • Where accounting may be sufficient but strategic financial advice is lacking
  • Where outside capital such as equity or bank lines may be sought or re-negotiated
  • Where a sale of the business or making an acquisition are contemplated
